Finland House in Rio Olympics - EEF members presenting Finnish excellence in education
Finland House is the first ever high-end Finnish hospitality house concept in the history of the Olympic Games. Finland House will be situated in the central Rio and be open on 12-21 August, 2016. Finland House, showcasing education, Finnish sports and clean technology, will be the venue for exclusive business and sport-related events, ministerial and presidential visits, and the Finnish Olympic Team press conferences.
Education Export Finland and Cleantech Finland, Team Finland growth programs managed by Finpro and funded by Ministry of Employment and Economy, together with the Finnish Olympic Committee and Ministry of Education, are among the main organizers of the Rio Finland House.
EEF members showcasing Finnish expertise by interactive learning methods and gaming
Education Export Finland member companies will be demonstrating Finnish expertise at Finland House by using interactive learning methods and gaming. The visitor get the possibility to:
- play an educational game by Seppo, combining content of Finland as a travel destination and country of world-class cleantech and education know-how.
- try an online platform by Muuvit that combines sports and learning and serves as a tool for teachers to inspire kids to acquire active lifestyle and learn in a fun and interdisciplinary way
- familiarize with an interactive language tool by Sanako with possibility to test live translations e.g. from Portuguese to Finnish or English
- play an inspiring maths game by 10Monkeys
There will also be company videos and demos from innovative EEF members e.g. by Sun in Eye, the creator of award-winning children’s learning game Pikkuli, and by Fun Academy, a start-up that created Angry Birds Playground. Finland House also features the Arctic fishing game Ice Lakes from Iceflake Studios.
The Finnish School system will also be represented in Rio by 21st century pedagogies showcasing teacher and sports education as well as offerings and solutions empowering student achievement and entrepreneurial mindset. Tampere University of Applied Sciences (TAMK) and Häme University of Applied Sciences (HAMK) will jointly organize a workshop for local educators, in which TAMK & HAMK Brazilian alumni in teacher training program will provide an induction to Finnish teacher education in practice. Other Finnish higher education institutions present are University of Tampere, University of Turku, Turku UAS, Lapland UAS and Tampere Adult Education Centre (TAKK).
