Successful delegation visit to Brazil - A broad interest towards Finnish education

03-05-2016 Successful delegation visit to Brazil - A broad interest towards Finnish education The success of Finnish education system is well known in Brazil. There is a broad interest among governmental and private actors in the field of education towards education policy issues, teacher education and Finnish pedagogic models.

Ms. Sanni Grahn-Laasonen, Minister of Education and Culture of Finland, visited Brazil at the beginning of April 2016. The Minister brought to Brazil a 28-member delegation, consisting of representatives of universities, universities of applied sciences and educational companies. The theme of the visit was to deepen existing Finnish-Brazilian cooperation in education and science, and to identify new opportunities for cooperation. The Finnish delegation had special expertise in vocational training and private schools development, and the program priorities were identified based on this expertise.

Ms. Riitta Vänskä, Program Manager of Education Export Finland, joined the business delegation together with several EEF members. She was pleased with the visit.

“EEF members joining the business delegation had many successful meetings and are now continuing negotiations with the Brazilian companies and institutions. It looks very promising. This trip gave new opportunities for EEF company members. It also deepened the co-operation of Finnish and Brazilian institutions which have had education business already earlier. Digital solutions and teacher training were the main discussion topics on those meetings that I participated, these are the areas which are always asked from us and the needs are easy to fulfill with the Finnish offering."
