Director General Heinonen visits China with Team Finland business delegation to discuss educational cooperation and business
Mr Olli-Pekka Heinonen, Director General for Finnish National Agency for Education, will visit Shanghai and Hong Kong with a Team Finland business delegation March 5–9, 2018. During the visit, the delegation will meet with both private and public sector organisations.
The delegation’s visit is a continuation to the visit Finland’s education minister Ms Sanni Grahn-Laasonen made to China in autumn 2017. The visit is part of the operations for Education Finland, a national government-level programme aimed at boosting Finnish education export.
The delegation comprises twelve companies and organisations representing various branches of Finnish educational solutions: learning environments, digital learning solutions, education tourism, learning contents, early childhood education and care, and higher education.
During the visit, the delegation will meet with both private and public sector organisations, such as Shanghai Education Council and Hong Kong Education Bureau. Also, as a new approach the Finnish organisations will meet Chinese educational investors.

Attendance of 3 Finnish Experts at MEF University’s Change in Education Conference in Istanbul in December
MEF University in Istanbul Turkey is organizing a "Change in Education" conference in December. The conference will focus in particular on educational technologies, flipped learning and university-school partnership.
Finnish education experts will attend the conference and workshops. Ms. Ulla Ilomäki-Keisala and Ms. Sari Muhonen from Viikki Teacher Training School of Helsinki University and Mr. Timo Holopainen from Turku University of Applied Sciences will attend a panel in the conference on December 10th. The topic of the panel is “Change of the Curriculum in Finland”.
Also separate workshops are held on Sunday December 11th. In the workshops Ulla Ilomäki-Keisala and Sari Muhonen will discuss about the new curriculum and teacher training and Timo Holopainen will focus on the Innopeda system that Turku University has developed.

Turkish–Finnish co-operation deepening - Finnish experts at Educational Technologies Summit
Fatih Project in Education | Educational Technologies Summit will be organized by Ministry of Education of Turkey on November 4-5 in Ankara, Turkey.
Educational Technologies Summit in connection to the FATIH project is arranged this year for the second time. The summit is a platfrom where academicians, policy makers, experts, teachers, students, NGO representatives and technology suppliers in the private sector will come together and share theoretical and practical information.
At the Summit, speakers will give their presentations related to student needs and innovations within the context of Fatih Project in Education. In addition to these, such topics as coding, robotics and 3D technologies are going to be discussed.
Finland is contributing to the event with five speakers who are experts in their fields. Maarit Rossi from Paths to Math, a mathematics teacher and one of the top 10 finalists at the Global Teacher Prize 2016 given by Varky Foundation, is one of the keynote speakers. Also Santeri Koivisto from TeacherGaming, Aape Pohjavirta from Funzi, Sanna Lukander from Fun Academy, Pasi Mattila from Finpeda will speak at different panels.
Finpro Istanbul is going to take part also in the event to matchmake participating Finnish companies with interested Turkish companies.

Finnish Peruvian Education Seminar
The Peruvian Nordic Chamber of commerce, Finpro Peru and Team Finland are bringing a group of Peruvian investors, directors and businesspeople from education sector to Finland to meet Finnish education solution providers. The group consists about 15 top decision makers of e.g Intercorp group (turnover over 3 billion USD), Banco de Crédito del Perú group (Turnover 4,6 billion USD), the directors of leading private universities e.g ESAN and not to mention the decision makers of the huge public sector. Many of them own private school chains and are planning to build new ones. The aim of the visit is to get to know the success factors of Finnish education and to build connections with relevant Finnish providers for doing business. The visit takes place from 26th of September to 30th of September.
Monday the 26th is a seminar day at Finpro where Finnish education solution providers can present their offering in teacher training and ed tech solutions. China-Finland Principals (CFP) Forum 2016
Under the theme "Future Education Design” the 2nd China-Finland Principals Forum looks at the future with emphasis on ICT and Future Learning Environment in education on 8 -10 August in Tampere, Finland.
Finnish education and Indoor Air Quality expertize has big potential in the developing education sector in China. Finpro's Export Education Finland and Beautiful Beijing will be co-hosting a stand E7-E8 at the CFP Forum 2016. Finland House in Rio Olympics - EEF members presenting Finnish excellence in education
Finland House is the first ever high-end Finnish hospitality house concept in the history of the Olympic Games. Finland House will be situated in the central Rio and be open on 12-21 August, 2016. Education Export Finland member companies will be demonstrating Finnish expertise at Finland House by using interactive learning methods and gaming. The visitor get the possibility to:
- play an educational game by Seppo, combining content of Finland as a travel destination and country of world-class cleantech and education know-how.
- try an online platform by Muuvit that combines sports and learning and serves as a tool for teachers to inspire kids to acquire active lifestyle and learn in a fun and interdisciplinary way
- familiarize with an interactive language tool by Sanako with possibility to test live translations e.g. from Portuguese to Finnish or English
- play an inspiring maths game by 10Monkeys
There will also be company videos and demos from innovative EEF members e.g. by Sun in Eye, the creator of award-winning children’s learning game Pikkuli, and by Fun Academy, a start-up that created Angry Birds Playground. Finland House also features the Arctic fishing game Ice Lakes from Iceflake Studios.
The Finnish School system will also be represented in Rio by 21st century pedagogies showcasing teacher and sports education as well as offerings and solutions empowering student achievement and entrepreneurial mindset. Tampere University of Applied Sciences (TAMK) and Häme University of Applied Sciences (HAMK) will jointly organize a workshop for local educators, in which TAMK & HAMK Brazilian alumni in teacher training program will provide an induction to Finnish teacher education in practice. A unique digital school will be created onboard the boat: their boat will be a development lab for the new Finnish curriculum and new digital learning tools and methods provided by Finnish companies.

Education Export Finland organizes a Mini-Seminar on cooperation possibilities in the field of Education between Finland and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The seminar is held on Monday, May 16, 2016 from 12:30 to 16:00 hrs.
The event is organized on the visit to Finland by H.E. Dr. Ahmed bin Muhammad Al-Isa, Minister of Education of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Minister Al-Isa is visiting Finland with a high-level delegation to learn more about the Finnish education system and to find new cooperation avenues and partners. In the seminar Minister Al-Isa will deliver a keynote address.

A school on a sailing boat: How will learning work out on the seas of the world?
In June 2016, the Meretniemi family is beginning a six-year sailing voyage around the world. The children of the family will have lessons on the sailing boat by making use of digital learning possibilities. The Sail for Good project that has grown around the sailing voyage is now bringing experts together to discuss different learning methods and the possibilities offered by digitalisation.
The Sail for Good – Global Classroom event is the starting signal for a learning and education export project built around the six-year-long sailing voyage around the world. In the event, discussion will be raised about the skills of the future that a school should train children for.
Is a school environment needed for learning them or can learning take place anywhere? What opportunities does digitalisation offer for the education export of Finland? These and many other questions will be delved into in expert discussions. Talking about individual learning will be, amongst others, Kirsti Lonka, Professor of Educational Psychology at the University of Helsinki, and the classroom teacher Maarit Korhonen, who has shaken up the school world. Other subjects are the skills of the future and how school trains children for them, digitality in learning and the global nationality. Talking about the themes, there will be people including the mathematics teacher and innovative reformer of teaching methods Pekka Peura, the writer Sonja Ängeslevä, who is a person of influence in the technology field and has received the President’s Internationalisation Award and Maarit Rossi, who has been voted one of the world’s ten best teachers, as well as Tina Aspiala, who spent her childhood on a sailing boat, the philosopher Lauri Järvilehto and the radio personality Abdirahim Husu Hussein.
As the beginning of the event, more details will be heard about the sailing voyage of the Meretniemi family that begins in June. It will also be possible to get to know the Swan 57 boat through virtual reality and enjoy Reino Nordin’s performance from 4 pm.

Sail for Good is the project of the five-person Meretniemi family to sail for six years in the seas of the world.
